This workshop will be hosted by the All-island Obesity Action Forum and supported by safefood, the Association for the Study of Obesity on the island of Ireland and the Association for the Study of Obesity (UK). The workshop will take place in the NICVA Centre in Belfast on the 20th of June, 2017.

The theme of this workshop is ‘Stigma in obesity – a public health priority?’. The speakers will present on weight bias in a number of settings. Delegates will also be given the opportunity to listen to the personal story of those who have experienced bias around their weight. Learning how stigma is being tackled in other areas like mental health will conclude the event alongside a presentation on effective communication strategies.
