Health in Ireland Key Trends 2017

The Department of Health have released their report on health in Ireland in 2017. The report provides summary statistics on health and health care.

The report includes information on food consumption. Key findings include:

  • Over 1 in 5 adults consume sugar-sweetened beverages daily.
  • Men consumed more sugary drinks on average compared to women.
  • Over 20% of adults consume cakes, muffins, biscuits, chocolate, sweets and ice-cream.
  • Over 15% of adults consume these foods (cakes, muffins, biscuits, chocolate, sweets and ice-cream) once or more per day.
